St Osyth Historical Society

The aim of the society is to advance the study of history generally, but with particular emphasis on the St. Osyth District. Meetings are held in the village hall on the second Thursday of the month at 7.00 p.m. There is a guest speaker at each meeting who talks on various subjects of historical interest.

Refreshments are available during meetings with time for members to socialise. During the summer a day trip is arranged with a guided tour. Previous trips have been to Long Melford Hall, Sutton Hoo, Lavenham, and Ingatestone Hall. A local evening visit is also arranged and these include Paycockes House in Coggeshall, Copford Church, Alfred Munnings Museum in Dedham, and a guided tour of Colchester.

Social events during the year include a coffee morning, Christmas party, and quiz night. Membership subscription is £15 per year, and visitors are welcome to evening meetings at £3.50 per evening. New members willing to join will be made most welcome. For further information please contact: Jo Cole on 821759 or Catherine Pollard on 820761
