The Point Clear and St Osyth
Horticultural Society started in 1945, with the aim of
promoting the cultivation of flowers, fruits and vegetables
and to encourage horticulture generally. There are three
shows a year, and usually one or two talks. The Annual
General Meeting is held in October and is proving very
popular. In addition to the horticultural classes at the
shows, there is a section for cookery, another for
handicraft, and a section for children. We have a plant sale
in May, with a good supply of plants at very reasonable
prices. We mostly have about 200 members, but we are always
pleased to welcome new people. We have kept our annual
subscription at £1.50 and it gives free entry to all the
shows and talks. Anyone wishing to join can contact me.
